KIEV (Sputnik) – The Ukraine's Security Service recommended to strip 115 Russian news outlets of accreditation at state power bodies in Ukraine, an adviser of the agency's head said Saturday.
"The list is absolutely specific and comprises 115 media outlets that have to have their accreditation suspended in Ukraine," Markiyan Lubkievsky said on "112 Ukraina" television channel.
"This story needs to end and we understand that it will be hard for us to win the information war against the Russian Federation otherwise. We are following the path all countries take when struggling against an aggressor… Consider this SBU sanctions against Russian media," Lubkievsky said.
Earlier Saturday, the Kremlin stated that it will discuss the inadmissibility of limiting Russian media in Ukraine with Kiev.
The same day, Russian Foreign Ministry human rights ombudsman Konstantin Dolgov told RIA Novosti that Kiev's move is an act of information warfare that violated international norms and freedoms of speech. Dolgov called on the international community to appropriately respond to Kiev's decision to limit Russia media.
Since the start of military confrontation between Kiev forces and independence supporters in last April, press freedom in Ukraine has been repeatedly violated, according to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
