The center to advance 3D technology in Russia, to be set up by the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, will tap the potential of the research institutes of Novosibirsk and Tomsk, according to an article carried by Friday’s issue of Science in Siberia journal.

“We are entering an era of a new industrial revolution… What we are talking about is an industry with an annual growth potential of 27 percent,” said Professor Yuri Chugui, one of the authors of the idea of the Novosibirsk center.

Experts believe that the Novosibirsk and Tomsk institutes have everything they need to develop systems of high-precision positioning and intellectual control, lasers, electronic beam guns and accelerators, etc.

In Novosibirsk alone, 17 local enterprises already said they would be happy to get 3D machines designed and made in Russia.
