BENGALURU (Sputnik) — The Russian Helicopters company has developed four advanced transport helicopters, with certification tests to be completed this year, the company's director, Alexander Mikheev, told RIA Novosti Wednesday.
"Four models are already flying. This year we are finishing the certification tests. We will show the helicopters at the MAKS air show," Mikheev said at the Aero India show.
He added that the new helicopters can be used for military purposes, as well as for civilian and VIP transportation.
Mikheev stated that the new helicopter, with a 15-tons load-carrying capacity is essentially a modification of the Mi-38.
"It is fully equipped with Russian components, and it has the TB7117 engine produced by the Klimov bureau," Mikheev said.
The MAKS international aviation and space show, where the new helicopter will be presented, takes place annually in the city of Zhukovsky near Moscow. This year, MAKS will be held on August 25-30.
