MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to Puchkov, the main objective of the large-scale exercise that will be conducted in all regions of Russia is the "the improvement of rescuers' practical skills and refinement of plans on the mitigation of the consequences of possible emergency situations caused by floods".
The press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry has told RIA Novosti that Puchkov sent representatives to the ministry's regional centers on Friday evening to pass more detailed information on the training.
"In accordance with the received instructions, the Russian Emergencies Ministry air fleet is conducting a timely transfer of airmobile groups to the areas of trial emergencies, delivering rescuers to remote locations," the ministry said.
The exercises will also allow to test the latest technologies, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and new ways of eliminating river ice jams.
According to the ministry, special attention will be paid to evacuation procedures and measures of protecting civilians and critical facilities from the dangers of flooding.
