Niger’s armed forces have killed 260 Boko Haram militants in fighting since February 6, an army spokesman said Thursday, Reuters reported.
The announcement came five days after Niger's military said Friday that its troops killed 109 Boko Haram militants but lost four soldiers after a major attack by the militants was repelled near the border with neighboring Nigeria.
A joint army of Niger and Chadian troops repulsed the militants' aggression, which began Friday, said a military source, adding that a civilian was also killed in the fighting.
