MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Greece's left-wing government did not agree on new bailout terms in emergency talks with the EU finance ministers in Brussels, known as the Eurogroup, the BBC reported Thursday.

"We had an intense discussion, constructive, covering a lot of ground, also making progress, but not enough progress yet to come to joint conclusions," Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem was quoted as saying.

According to both Dijsselbloem and Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, the sides are expected to meet again on Monday.

Meanwhile, a crowd of up to 20,000 people were reported to gather in Athens late Wednesday to voice support for Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras government's anti-austerity stance.

The deadline for Greece's bailout program overseen by the so-called troika of international money lenders — the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank — expires on February 28.

The recently elected left-wing Syriza party maintained its position of rejecting the troika's terms and promising to renegotiate its overwhelming debt.
