Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak stressed that countries should not compete with their anti-Russian rhetoric, but rather should help Ukraine by practical means.

A competition in anti-Russian rhetoric will not help Ukraine to emerge from the crisis, the Foreign Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak said Tuesday, adding that the international community should take concrete steps, focusing on humanitarian assistance and reverse gas supplies.

"A competition in anti-Russian rhetoric will not help Ukraine. Concrete steps would be helpful, first of all," Lajcak said, according to Slovak Radio.

The Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs also opposed arms supplies to Ukraine and said that the country needs only two things — peace and reforms. During a special meeting of the Slovak parliament, Lajcak also mentioned his country’s assistance to Ukraine, including humanitarian aid and energy supplies.

"No one is helping Ukraine as Slovakia does," Lajcak said.

The last humanitarian shipments were sent to Ukraine last week and mainly consisted of clothes for refugees and medical supplies. The total cost of humanitarian goods made up €700,000.
