TransAsia to Cancel 52 More Flights Next Week After Taipei Crash

TransAsia airline will cancel 52 more flights on Monday and Tuesday in addition to the 90 flights that it had already cancelled after one of its planes crashed in Taipei last week, the Straits Times reported Sunday.

MOSCOW, (Sputnik) – After the crash, Taiwan’s authorities ordered the company’s pilots to undergo proficiency tests.

The TransAsia Airways ATR-72 aircraft crashed into the Keelung River in Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, shortly after takeoff. At least 40 of the 58 people on board were killed, while 3 others remain missing.

The Aviation Safety Council said that the aircraft’s engines lost power straight after takeoff.
