The meeting of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Russian President Vladimir Putin started Friday and lasted for more than five hours. Following the meeting, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the talks were substantive and constructive. The negotiators are said to continue work on a text of a possible agreement which might be revealed during a telephone conversation in the Normandy format scheduled for Sunday.

Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany are part of the Normandy format talks on Ukrainian reconciliation. The latest ministerial-level meeting in the Normandy format held in January in Berlin failed to yield any positive results.
