Russia Agrees to Mediate Syria Talks in Moscow
MOSCOW, January 30 (Sputnik), Svetlana Alexandrova Russia has an advantage over other international mediators in resolving the crisis in Syria, as it maintains contacts with all parties in the conflict, a leader of one of the opposition groups told Sputnik on Friday.

"Russia has an advantage over other international mediators in settling the situation in Syria, as it maintains contacts with all the opposition groups as well as with representatives of the government," Qadri Jamil from the People's Will Party said.

All international mediators will be welcome to participate in working out the Syrian conflict, once talks are resumed, he stressed, but so far the part that other major negotiators play in the process "was not constructive," Jamil, who is also a former deputy prime minister, stressed.

"Russia's position towards the Syrian talks was always balanced and well placed," he added.
