“I have no doubts that Russia will manage the World Cup organization well,” Guerreiro said in an interview with RIA Novosti, adding that he hopes that Russian football team will achieve good results in the competition.
Brazil hosted the most recent World Cup in 2014. The country’s team was defeated by Germany in the semifinals, despite high expectations that Brazil would win the championship on home soil.
Earlier, Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) president Michel Platini and International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) president Joseph Blatter expressed their full support for holding the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The World Cup, the world's biggest football championship, will take place from June 14 to July 15, 2018 in 11 Russian cities, namely Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Saransk, Sochi, St. Petersburg and Volgograd.
