NEW DELHI, January 15 (Sputnik) — Terrorists are planning major attacks in India ahead of a visit by US President Barack Obama, a senior military commander said Thursday.

"There are 14 to 15 terrorist camps south of the Pir Panjal area. Here 200 terrorists are roaming between launch pad and training camps. They are trying to infiltrate for mission to create terror in India," the Indian Army's Lt. Gen. K. H. Singh said at a press conference.

According to Singh, the terrorists plan to carry out attacks on the civilian population and targets such as schools, having created a combined "module and war room-type infrastructure."

"The terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is intact," Singh said. According to him, the capabilities of terrorists have been reduced recently, but Pakistani Army and ISI [Pakistani intelligence service] are trying to strengthen them. There are 44 well-known terrorist camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir," Singh stated.

Security in India has been tightened ahead of Obama's three-day visit to the country starting January 25, as Indian intelligence agencies have been receiving information about terror strikes being planned across the Jammu and Kashmir international border with Pakistan.
