MOSCOW, January 13 (Sputnik) – Over 100 firefighters are currently battling to extinguish a fire, which broke out early Tuesday morning at Penn Station in New York City, NBC reported, citing the New York Fire Department (FDNY).

The fire has caused delays. New York subway A and E trains are bypassing the Penn Station in both directions, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The three-alarm fire began at approximately 2:30 a.m. (7:30 GMT) at the station, located at West 33rd Street and 8th Avenue in Manhattan. It allegedly broke out below ground at a construction site for the Long Island Rail Road, according to Pix 11, a local television station.
