The hacktivist group announced to jihadists worldwide it would avenge the attack on the offices of the French satirical magazine, reports Huffington Post.

In a YouTube video posted on Thursday the group’s spokesperson, wearing Guy Fawkes mask and talking in French, said, "We will track you down — every last one — and will kill you."

"You will not impose your sharia law in our democracies; we will not let your stupidity kill our liberties and our freedom of expression. We have warned you; expect your destruction," the spokesperson added, mocking Jihadists sensitivity towards offensive images of The Prophet illustrated in Hebdo’s cartoons.

The group added that they would track down and close all accounts on social networks related to terrorists in order to avenge those who have been killed, reports The Telegraph.

The hacktivist group further voiced that freedom of expression has suffered an inhuman attack and the group feels it their duty to react.

The Anonymous pronouncement evoked varied reactions on social media. On Facebook, Afghan native Khalil Nouri warned of the consequences of trying to "kill fire with fire," while asking if Anonymous was possibly fueling a, "clash of civilizations," reports Huffington Post.

One Anonymous supporter was taken aback by the violent response, doubting that the group would follow through with such a threat.

"They have no history of physical violence, only cyber. They shut down internet pages. Their resources can find anyone online, I'm sure," photographer and musician, Michael Tucci, said. He predicts Anonymous, "concentrating efforts to disrupt Islamic extremism's support and communication."

Anonymous is a group consisting of activists and hackers who claim to defend and protect democracy. They have carried out a number of cyber-attacks before shutting down government, religious, and corporate websites by distributed denial-of-service.
