“Russian Emergencies Ministry, together with the nongovernmental organization Russian Union of Rescuers have prepared presents for the children of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which will be delivered with the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s convoy,” Voronov said.
“It is planned that it [the convoy] will include over 120 trucks that will carry over 1,400 tonnes [more than 1,500 tons] of humanitarian aid. The cargo includes, apart from the presents, meat, fish and dairy tinned goods, children’s food and seven kinds of grain,” the official added.
The previous convoys to eastern Ukraine mainly delivered food supplies, construction materials and medication.
Voronov added that the formation of the convoy, 11th aid mission sent to the Donbas region from Russia, is currently underway in the country’s southern Rostov Region. The humanitarian aid will be distributed among schools, kindergartens, hospitals and other community facilities.
Eastern Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions have seen a severe humanitarian crisis since April, when Kiev launched a military operation against local independence supporters.
