"In terms of foreign policy, Hollande fully submitted to NATO and the United States," Eric Coquerel said.
The Left Party emerged from the Socialist Party in 2008. Hollande was a longtime leader of the French Socialist Party before he was elected president in 2012.
Since assuming the presidency Hollande has been frequently criticized for swaying under pressure from NATO and the United States instead of putting French interests first.
In July France, as a member of the European Union, backed sanctions against Russia over its alleged meddling in the Ukrainian crisis. Within the framework of the sanctions policy Hollande suspended the delivery of two French-built Mistral-class helicopter carriers to Russia. According to the terms of the $1.5 billion contract signed in June 2011, France was due to deliver the first of the two Mistral-class helicopter carriers, the Vladivostok, to the Russian Navy by November 14.
