MOSCOW, December 14 (Sputnik) — An 18-year-old high school student was arrested in Iksan, South Korea, for making an acid bomb and detonating it at a talk show, the hosts of which allegedly made pro-North Korea comments, Yonhap news agency reported Sunday, citing local police.
The student named Oh detonated his home-made acid bomb while attending a talk show on December, 10, after the show's co-hosts reportedly made pro-North Korea comments, Yonhap said. The explosion destroyed windows and flooring of the venue; however, no injuries have been reported.
According to the police, the student was arrested Sunday for possessing, assembling and detonating an acid bomb, as well as for causing property damage. Oh was a member of Ilbe, a South Korean online community, criticized for its far-right stance.
Both co-hosts of the show are currently being probed for advocating North Korea, which is prohibited as anti-state activity in South Korea.
The Korean Peninsula is formally in a state of war. No peace treaty was signed after the Korean War of 1950-1953. Advocating North Korean ideology or politics is strictly prohibited in South Korea, which has triggered complaints from various rights groups.
