Hundreds reportedly have gathered near the Scottish parliament, demanding country’s independence.

MOSCOW, November 29 (Sputnik) — Hundreds of people have gathered near the Scottish parliament on Saturday, demanding country’s independence, RT TV channel reported.

Scots were carrying St.Andrew’s Cross flags, sending a clear message to London that their campaign for independence is still strong.

“This is just not good enough for Scotland anymore. Scotland is now at the stage where we’ve had enough of being ruled, we’re getting nothing, we’re putting everything and getting nothing back, and it’s time for Scotland to become an independent country,” one of the activists told RT.

The Scottish independence referendum, which took place on September 18, saw a turnout of 84.59 percent. Scots were asked a single question: Should Scotland become an independent country? The majority of the population, 55.3 percent, decided that Scotland should remain part of the United Kingdom, while 44.7 percent voted for secession.

Former Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond, whose main goal was to lead the country toward independence, resigned from his post following the defeat of his Yes campaign.

Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Nicola Sturgeon who has replaced Alex Salmond and has officially become the new First Minister of Scotland on November 20, said that the country will hold a second independence referendum.
