The clergyman of the church, attended by the father of Michael Brown, says his church has been burnt down and he has received death threats after he publicly called for officer Darren Wilson, who shot Brown in August, to be arrested.

FERGUSON, November 27 (Sputnik) – The minister of the church, attended by the father of African-American teenager Michael Brown, shot dead by a white policeman, says his church has been burnt down and he has received death threats for his criticism of police, CNN reports.

“I’ve had 71 death threats against me since I became very vocal about this issue,” Rev. Carlton Lee said in a Wednesday interview to CNN, adding that since his first press conference 30 days after Brown’s death he had been receiving death threats every day.

Rev. Carlton Lee added that he believed the threats came from white supremacists, because he had publicly called for officer Darren Wilson, who shot Brown in August, to be arrested.

A Muslim group called for an investigation on Wednesday into the burning of Rev. Carlton Lee's Ferguson church.

On Monday, a grand jury decided not to bring charges against Wilson for shooting and killing 18-year-old Brown.

The controversial verdict led to a fresh round of protests in Ferguson and in major cities across the United States.
