The Russian Permanent Representative to the UN criticized the monthly session in UN, saying that it was used by those, who proposed it for “another round of propaganda wrangling,” rather than a proactive search for solutions under the Minsk Agreement.

UNITED NATIONS, November 26 (Sputnik) — Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin on Wednesday criticized the UN Security Council's monthly wrap-up session, and much of its work in November.

Churkin said that “we proposed having just one wrap-up session per year,” adding that the monthly sessions involve “attempts to glorify approaches that are not effective.”

Churkin also complained that a Russian draft Presidential Statement on terrorists' possible use of chemical weapons in Syria and Iraq was blocked at the expert stage in the Security Council, where initial negotiations take place.

On Ukraine, Churkin said that the Security Council's November 12 session was used by those, who proposed it for “another round of propaganda wrangling,” rather than a proactive search for solutions under the Minsk Agreement.

On Bosnia and Herzegovina, Churkin explained Russia's abstention on Resolution 2183, saying it involved urging Bosnia to join the European Union and NATO in a resolution under Chapter 7 of the UN Charter. He said authority should be returned to the Bosnians themselves, under the provisions of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
