Putin Bans Media From Publishing Bomb-Making Instructions

The illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of explosives has also been added to the Criminal Code, punishable by 5 to 12 years imprisonment with either a fine of 200 thousand to 500 thousand rubles or 1 to 3 years' income.

MOSCOW, November 25 (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday toughened charges for illegal trafficking of explosives in the country and introduced a ban on the distribution of bomb-making instructions in the media.

The new law was posted on the official legal information website.

The fine for breaking the new law will be 4 thousand to 5 thousand rubles ($80-100) for private citizens, 40 thousand to 50 thousand rubles for officials and individual entrepreneurs and 800 thousand to 1 million rubles for legal entities.

The manufacture, alteration and repair of explosive devices will be punishable by 3 to 6 years in prison with a fine of either 100 thousand to 200 thousand rubles or 1-2 years' income.

The age of criminal liability for these crimes would start at 14, as opposed to 16 for most other crimes in Russia.
