MOSCOW, November 25 (Sputnik) – In a statement released Tuesday the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic requested the UN Security Council (UNSC) to discuss sending a peacekeeping mission to eastern Ukraine.

“We demand convening an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to consider the issue of involving a peacekeeping contingent, including representatives of the Russian Federation, into the process of control over implementation of previously reached agreements and of alleviating the humanitarian and social situation,” the republic’s government and legislature said in a statement.

The DPR government called on the international community and Russia, to bring an end to the "humanitarian disaster and social genocide" caused by the actions of the Ukrainian government in the Donetsk region.

Moscow Preparing Another White Book on Human Rights Violations in Ukraine
On November 20, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine issued a report documenting numerous incidents of ceasefire violations and severe human rights abuses in eastern Ukraine. The report stated that on average 13 people were killed daily in the weeks following the ceasefire deal that was agreed between the opposing parties in September.

The conflict in eastern Ukraine escalated in mid-April, as Kiev launched a military operation against independence supporters who disagreed with the policies of the Ukrainian authorities that came to power as a result of a February coup.
