Israel has charged a Border Police officer of injuring several Palestinian teenagers and killing one during a protest on in the West Bank in May.

MOSCOW, November 23 (Sputnik) — Israel has charged a Border Police officer, suspected of killing a Palestinian teenager during a protest in the West Bank in May, with manslaughter, The Times of Israel reported Sunday.

The investigators suspect that the police officer intentionally altered rubber bullets with live ammunition, which resulted in injuring several Palestinian teenagers and killing one during a protest on Nakba Day, when the Palestinians commemorate the displacement of about 700,000 compatriots before Israel's 1948's Declaration of Independence.

In June, Israeli experts carefully studied the teen's autopsy results and concluded that Nadeem Siam Nawara, aged 17, was killed by live ammo.

According to the newspaper, the officer could have killed another teenager, who died of wounds at a local hospital the same day.

The suspected policeman was arrested in mid-November. His chief was also detained, as the investigators suspected he knew about the use of live ammunition, but failed to address the issue.
