Congressman Ted Yoho said that a new bill introduced in Congress will prevent executive action on immigration reform.

WASHINGTON, November 21 (Sputnik) – A new bill introduced in Congress will prevent US President Barack Obama's planned executive action on immigration reform, a sponsor for the bill Congressman Ted Yoho has told Sputnik.

The announcement came Thursday, hours before Obama's planned introduction of executive action on immigration reform and is aimed at preventing what Yoho sees as an unlawful provision of amnesty to illegal immigrants living in the United States.

"What he [Obama] is doing is he's ramming this through, creating more of a crisis instead of solving a problem," Yoho told Sputnik, stressing that what the US president has planned in terms of immigration policy is "irresponsible" and "reckless".

Yoho's bill would prevent Obama from providing amnesty to millions of immigrants living in the United States illegally; something the Republican Congressman anticipates will be included in the president's executive action.

The bill, called the Executive Amnesty Prevention Act, already has 5-10 co-sponsors, according to Yoho. It applies to all future presidential actions, and states that the president does not have the authority to exempt categories of people living illegally in the United States from removal.

Obama stated earlier this month that he would do everything legally possible through executive action to improve the US immigration system.

Meanwhile the Republican party has stressed that they would go as far as impeaching the president if he uses his executive authority to change US immigration policy.
