MOSCOW, November 20 (Sputnik) — US Vice President Joe Biden is set to bring a strong message of support during his visit to Kiev, he said in an interview with the Ukrainian The Day newspaper.
“I will be bringing a strong message of support to the Ukrainian people and government, about which I will have more to say when I am in Kyiv,” Biden was cited as saying by the newspaper.
“The United States will stand with you and support you in this effort, and we are working to provide additional support for your economy, for the implementation of reforms, and also for your security,” he added.
The vice president noted that it is vital that the newly elected Ukrainian parliament “delivers on reforms in various sectors”, such as energy, agriculture, and business. He also underlined the importance of dealing with corruption, describing it as “cutting out the cancer that limits Ukrainian economic growth”.
Joe Biden is currently on a five-day trip to Morocco, Ukraine and Turkey and is set to arrive in the Ukrainian capital Thursday afternoon. On Friday, the US vice president is set to hold meetings with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and President Petro Poroshenko.
