Russian Deputy Emergencies Minister Vladimir Artamonov stated that Russia is preparing a new humanitarian aid convoy to be delivered to eastern Ukraine.

MOSCOW, November 20 (Sputnik) – Russia is preparing a new humanitarian aid convoy to be delivered to eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Russian Deputy Emergencies Minister Vladimir Artamonov said Thursday.

“Not too soon, but the process of forming the next convoy is underway,” Artamonov responded to a Sputnik correspondent’s question of when the next Russian convoy would be sent to the two regions.

This would become the eighth Russian humanitarian convoy to enter eastern Ukraine since August.

Kiev-led military operation against southeastern Ukraine's independence supporters has triggered a severe humanitarian crisis in the region. Convoys, organized by Russia, delivered food, water, power generators, medication and winter supplies for the residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions ahead of the approaching winter. The previous humanitarian convoy arrived in the area on November 16.

On Wednesday, Russian Emergencies Ministry said the deliveries of aid for the people of eastern Ukraine will continue "as long as needed."
