The decision has been made after a recent poll showed people’s dissatisfaction with a huge number of promotional posts in their news feeds.

MOSCOW, November 15 (Sputnik) — Creators of the social network ‘Facebook’ are planning to cut down promotional adverts, jumping out in the news feeds, due to numerous users’ requests, AFP reported on Saturday.

“People told us they wanted to see more stories from friends and pages they care about, and less promotional content," said the company’s representatives after a recent poll showed people’s dissatisfaction with a huge number of promotional posts in their timelines.

The company is going to curtail advertisements prompting people to purchase things, install apps or “enter promotions with no real context”, according to Slash Gear. However, the company’s measures are more likely to be about the improvement of the information quality, rather than reducing advertisements’ numbers as such.

“The idea is to increase the relevance and quality of the overall stories – including page posts – people see in their News Feeds,” Facebook representatives announced.

Promotional posts will undergo a special filtering process, making news feeds more attractive for users as reported by AFP. The control measures are, however, a major blow for companies, attempting to attract customers via their Facebook pages as they will have to turn their posts into ads and pay for their distribution.
