Tehran, P5+1 to Meet November 11 for Nuclear Talks: Iran's Deputy FM

The six party meeting on Tehran's nuclear issue will be held two days after the trilateral talks between Javad Zarif, John Kerry and Catherine Ashton on November 9-10.

MOSCOW, November 2 (RIA Novosti) — Iran and the P5+1 group will hold the next round of nuclear negotiations on November 11 in Muscat, Oman, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Abbas Araqchi told reporters on Sunday.

Araqchi said that the meeting will be held after two days of trilateral talks between Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, US Secretary of State John Kerry and EU's Catherine Ashton on November 9 and 10, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNI).

The trilateral talks are aimed at discussing Iran’s nuclear enrichment programs and the consequent sanctions, ahead of the next round of talks with the Group consisting of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.

The last round of talks ended on October 23 in Vienna, which involved six rounds of talks but the group opted to extend the talk to November 24 following disagreement on a number of key issues.

Last November, Iran and international mediators reached an interim deal known as the Geneva agreement, but since its expiry in July, Araqchi said that removal of all sanctions against Tehran was a precondition to any comprehensive agreement, according to a report on Fars News.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not accept the remaining of even one sanction in the comprehensive nuclear agreement,” the news outlet quoted Araqchi as saying last week, adding that Iran was ready to show increased transparency in its nuclear programs on those conditions.

The United States, France, Britain and Germany want Iran to maintain low thousands of enrichment centrifuges. Iran now has about 19,000 installed with about 10,000 spinning to refine uranium.
