ROSTOV REGION (Russia), October 31 (RIA Novosti) – Part of the trucks from the Russian humanitarian aid convoy sent to Donbas (southeastern Ukraine) have reached the Donetsk-Izvarino border checkpoint in the Rostov Region, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported Friday.
The trucks are now being checked by Russian customs officers under the monitoring of their Ukrainian colleagues and two representatives from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
Earlier, the Russian humanitarian aid convoy that was sent to southeastern Ukraine was split into two, with half of the 100 trucks routed to Luhansk and the rest going to Donetsk.
The trucks were carrying about 1,000 tons of humanitarian aid including food, medication, construction materials and winter supplies.
Russia has previously sent three humanitarian convoys to eastern Ukraine, which has suffered greatly from the Kiev-led military operation against the region's independence supporters.
