Senior Airport Engineer Charged in Vnukovo Plane Crash Case: Investigators

According to the Russian Investigative Committee spokesperson, criminal proceedings involving other suspects in the Total CEO plane crash case continue.

MOSCOW, October 31 (RIA Novosti) – A senior airport engineer at Moscow's Vnukovo airport, where the private jet of Total CEO Christophe de Margerie went down, has been charged in the plane crash case, the Russian Investigative Committee said Friday.

"Today, senior airport engineer Vladimir Ledenev was charged," Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said adding that "criminal proceedings continue involving other suspects in the case".

Earlier, an air traffic controller and his trainee also faced charges in the case.

The list of suspects includes also a snowplow driver and a flight supervisor. According to Markin, the suspects will be charged in the near future.

The plane crashed after hitting a snowplow during takeoff at Vnukovo Airport on October 21. De Margerie and three crew members, also French citizens, died in the crash.
