WASHINGTON, October 24 (RIA Novosti) - United States Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns will leave his post Friday, but will continue to help with the US-Iran nuclear negotiations until November 24, the department's spokesperson Jen Psaki said Friday.

"He'll continue to serve on the [Iran] negotiating team," Psaki told reporters.

Williams has served for 33 years in the Foreign Service and has been the department's Deputy Secretary since July 2011. He has played a significant role in leading the Obama administration's nuclear talks with Iran.

His departure comes as the US and other Western countries attempt to reach a long-term nuclear agreement with Iran by November 24, after they accused the country of developing nuclear weapons, claims that Iran has denied.
