In our fast moving day and age we constantly try to create something new and attractive. This has produced the culture of remakes, old black and white movie classics turn color, old songs are rearranged in a new way. This new wave of change hasn't passed the drama and opera by either. Should the classic genres be left alone or change is the only way to survive? Rupert Christiansen, a UK opera critic shares his view on Looking Forward. Some operatic directors seem to go out of their way to "breath in" a new life into the genre that goes back centuries.
