MOSCOW, October 24 (RIA Novosti) – Ottawa authorities have released CCTV footage showing the actions of Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, who fatally shot Corporal Nathan Cirillo guarding the National War Memorial on the Parliament Hill earlier this week, the Independent reports.

The footage released on Thursday shows that Zehaf-Bibeau acted alone and his attack was not related to another incident on Monday, in which Martin Couture-Rouleau killed a Canadian soldier and injured another by running them over with his car, the Independent said.

The authorities have also confirmed that Zehaf-Bibeau was not one of 90 “high-risk” individuals previously identified by the government.

"RCMP did not possess information that would reveal any national security related criminality. His criminal records indicated infractions related to drugs, violence and other criminal activities. I can confirm that Zehaf-Bibeau was not one of the 90 high-risk travelers that RCMP is currently investigating," said Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Commissioner Bob Paulson.

The commissioner also told reporters that Zehaf-Bibeau was in Ottawa for three weeks and had lived in one of Ottawa's downtown shelters. He came to re-apply for his passport, hoping to leave for Syria, according to his mother who spoke with police on Wednesday.

Zehaf-Bibeau was born as Michael Joseph Hall in Quebec in 1982, however he later converted to Islam and was radicalized, CBS News reported.
