MOSCOW, October 14 (RIA Novosti) - Five people with "flu-like" symptoms were removed from an Emirates flight at Boston's Logan Airport, the Boston Herald reported.

Emergency workers in protective gear boarded a plane which arrived from Dubai Monday evening and escorted out five passengers, who were then sent to hospitals in ambulances, the newspaper said.

According to a Massachusetts Port Authority spokesman, none of the ill passengers had recently been to West Africa.

The current Ebola epidemic broke out in Guinea in February and soon spread to the neighboring countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Senegal. More than 4,000 people have lost their lives in the outbreak, according to the latest WHO estimates.

The Ebola virus is transmitted through direct contact with the bodily fluids of those infected. Though there is no officially approved medication for the disease, several countries are currently working on developing Ebola vaccines.
