MOSCOW, October 12 (RIA Novosti) - Hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated from the east coast of India in the face of cyclone Hudhud, The Guardian has reported.

Some 150,000 people have been evacuated in the Andhra Pradesh and Orissa states, with 400,000 more set to follow, the newspaper said Saturday.

Hudhud is a severe storm with winds of up to 195 kph (121 mph). The cyclone is expected to cause torrential rains upon making landfall.

Four districts of the Andhra Pradesh state with the population of more than 14 million people are expected to be hit the hardest by the storm. Evacuees are to be housed in 370 relief camps.

In October 2013, more than 130,000 people were evacuated from Andhra Pradesh alone in the face of the Phailin cyclone. The wind speed of that cyclone reached 220 kph (137 mph).
