TOKYO, October 1 (RIA Novosti) - Rescuers on Wednesday discovered ten more people in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest on Japan’s Mount Ontake after the volcano erupted on Saturday, Kyodo News reported.

Ten more bodies were found on the mountain side as the search mission at Mount Ontake resumed on Wednesday, after being put on hold Tuesday morning due to bad weather and continued volcanic activity, Kyodo reported.

Rescuers previously located 36 bodies near the eruption site. Twelve bodies had been recovered, identified and officially pronounced dead before the rescue mission was suspended on Tuesday, while 24 remained on the mountain.

Fourteen more bodies were brought down from the mountain early on Wednesday.

Some 1,000 firefighters, police officers and troops are taking part in the search mission.

The 3,067-meter (10,062-feet) high Mount Ontake volcano erupted at about 11:53 a.m. local time (02:53 GMT) on Saturday. A number of international flights have been canceled because of the eruption.
