MOSCOW, September 29 (RIA Novosti) - Doctors from the Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok have created a new vaccine against the deadly Ebola virus, local news agency National News Bureau said Monday.

The new vaccine will be able to activate the production of antibodies to fight the Ebola virus, according to the agency.

Last week, the World Health Organization (WHO) informed that thousands of experimental Ebola vaccine doses from British company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and US company NewLink Genetics would be ready for use and provided to the Ebola-stricken countries by 2015.

The Canadian government has already provided WHO with 800 doses of the NewLink vaccine and is set to send thousands more in the upcoming months. Some 10,000 Ebola vaccine doses will be provided by GSK.

The worst Ebola outbreak in history and the first to have occurred in West Africa has claimed the lives of over 3,000 people, according to the latest WHO estimates. Over 6,500 cases of infection have been registered. The epidemic began in southern Guinea in February and spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Senegal.

The Ebola virus is transmitted through direct contact with the bodily fluids of those infected and there is no officially approved medication for the disease as of today.
