The Russian Baltic Fleet is conducting tactical exercises for its coastal forces on one of the ranges of the Kaliningrad Region, with more than 1,000 motorized infantry soldiers and marines from its fleet and more than 250 military and special equipment units participating, the Baltic Fleet's press service said Friday.

KALININGRAD, September 19 (RIA Novosti) – The Russian Baltic Fleet is conducting tactical exercises for its coastal forces on one of the ranges of the Kaliningrad Region, with more than 1,000 motorized infantry soldiers and marines from its fleet and more than 250 military and special equipment units participating, the Baltic Fleet's press service said Friday.

"After marching many kilometers from the places of permanent deployment, at the site the coastal forces troops worked the entire set of actions in defense and offense, improving skills of using weapons and military equipment, moving on the battlefield and setting up equipment fortifications," the statement said.

The troops were activated on September 16. During the exercise motorized units conducted offensive and defensive operations in response to the jamming of devices, air strikes and artillery fire.

BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-82A armed personnel carriers, T-72 tanks, self-propelled artillery howitzers Akatsiya, Gvozdika and Nona, Shilka anti-aircraft artillery systems, Grad rocket systems and fifth generation communications equipment are being used in the exercise.

At the final stage of the exercise, units will perform live firing of all types of small arms, grenade launchers, tanks and combat vehicles at targets simulating caterpillar-tracked and wheeled machinery and manpower of the aggressor.
