Picking up where we left off – your comments on the latest developments of the Ukrainian situation.

'Arab Spring' led to the 'Arab Winter'

Enrique Zahora from Spain wrote: “In my opinion, in order to 'justify' its existence NATO is trying to promote and make worse several conflicts worldwide, including the Kiev Junta aggression in Ukraine. They fear any peace settlement, because their goal is to keep providing and selling weapons to the always increasing NATO Club, and Russia is an independent country which they want to force to turn into a new lackey or colony. The EU is just the pet of the USA, and turns a blind eye to the atrocities in Novorossiya by the Kiev Regime, and just reacts and thinks twice after well-deserved sanctions provoked by irresponsible politicians who passed sanctions against Russia first!

In Russian media I read the expression 'The Merry go round of American weapons' - about Isis and Mideast catastrophes made worse after the Iraq war, providing weapons and training to anyone against Syria's President, or the failure of the so called 'Arab Spring' which led to the 'Arab Winter' instead. Same in Ukraine: only weapon exporters, puppet politicians and coffin manufacturers profit. No one else. The rest just suffer. But the EU doesn't want economic sanctions as payback and says: 'don't touch my exports'!!” end quote.

What’s your take on the situation?

Meanwhile, in a speech on his strategy to battle the Islamic State President Barack Obama said the US will destroy the militants wherever they are. Check out the video and read commentary at en.ria.ru.

Here’s what our readers and listeners think. Paulo Roberto Machado wrote: “In a few decades USA government will call ALL THE WORLD "terrorists"!!! Only people from USA can save their own country as they did on Vietnam war.  USA has been the richest nation in the world for decades.  But still have levels of distribution of wealth similar to the world's least developed countries. Time has passed. Capitalism is dying. And the USA is still an absurdly unequal, racist, warmongering and using the natural resources of the planet in a stupid way.”

Lou Rambo chimed in: “So basically, all ISIS fighters have to do is leave Iraq by crossing back over into Syria, put down their ISIS banners and rebrand themselves as "Syrian Opposition". If they do that, not only will we not kill them, we will also fund and arm them against the sovereign country of Syria. Meanwhile, we accuse Russia of showing "aggression" to the sovereign county of Ukraine for 'arming rebels', while we do the exact same thing in Syria by arming their rebels against their government (even though 80% of Syrians "voted" for their government). We also say "people have the right to self determination" and support the rebellion against Syria's democratically elected government, but we condemn the eastern Ukrainians in their fight for self determination against their government. Our government is talking out of both sides of their mouths. Ridiculous, but not surprising.”
