A development strategy for wine-growing and wine-making in Crimea has been worked out and is waiting for approval, said Boris Titov, the President’s representative for the protection of entrepreneurs’ rights, in an interview with the Voice of Russia at its office in Crimea.

SIMFEROPOL, August 28 (RIA Novosti) - A development strategy for wine-growing and wine-making in Crimea has been worked out and is waiting for approval, said Boris Titov, the President’s representative for the protection of entrepreneurs’ rights, in an interview with the Voice of Russia at its office in Crimea.

The strategy’s preparation was ordered by deputy prime-minister Dmitry Kozak.

In order to become effective, the strategy has to be approved by the State Commission on the Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

“Today we have every prospect for the development of this industry, as well as a considerable increase in production volumes – for example, an extension of vineyards up to 100,000 hectares and 50 million decaliters of wine,” Titov claimed.

Earlier, the Crimean Minister of Agriculture Nikolay Polushkin said that there are 31,000 hectares of vineyards in Crimea, one third of which requires reconstruction, stubbing, liquidation and new planting.
