MOSCOW, August 17 (RIA Novosti) - Rescuers are searching for 15 people still missing after a boat carrying foreign tourists sank in eastern Indonesia, Reuters reported Sunday, citing local authorities.

The incident took place Saturday night, but the local authorities were only alerted about it on Sunday, a representative of the rescue team told the agency. The vessel left the island of Lombok for Komodo Thursday night with 20 foreign citizens and five local crew members on board.

Local fishermen managed to help five tourists to get out of the water before the rescue team arrived and saved five more people. Their nationalities has not been specified.

The cause of the accident has not been established, yet. According to preliminary information, adverse weather conditions may have caused the boat to sink.
