Russia has to prepare for UNESCO approval procedure to reconstruct the Moscow Kremlin, said Russia’s Permanent Representative to the organization Eleonora Mitrofanova.

PARIS, August 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russia has to prepare for UNESCO approval procedure to reconstruct the Moscow Kremlin, said Russia’s Permanent Representative to the organization Eleonora Mitrofanova.

“The UNESCO decision on work on the territory of Russia’s world heritage site “Kremlin and Red Square” will depend on the reasonableness of the prospective reconstruction of the historical monuments, monastic buildings, about which we are talking today,” Mitrofanova said.

Considering a project, UNESCO will take into account a wide range of factors, such as authenticity of construction and conservation materials as well as public and architectural community opinion, said the diplomat. The organization will also consider management schemes and construction risks for the entire ensemble.

Late in July, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to consider reconstruction of Ascension Convent and Chudov Monastery which were founded in the Moscow Kremlin in XIV century but destroyed by the Soviet authorities in 1929-1930.
