Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas said people illegally crossing the US border could be terrorists or infected with Ebola, while the Obama administration sees them as “undocumented Democrats” and is unwilling to stop the crossings, the congressman said in an interview with TPNN radio.

MOSCOW, August 15 (RIA Novosti) - Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas said people illegally crossing the US border could be terrorists or infected with Ebola, while the Obama administration sees them as “undocumented Democrats” and is unwilling to stop the crossings, the congressman said in an interview with TPNN radio.

“This administration doesn’t have the desire, doesn’t have the will to actually stop it,” Gohmert told Tea Party News Network radio host Tim Constantine on Wednesday. “Because they see people coming across as undocumented Democrats. And so, they want to keep the surge of people coming in illegally, even though it includes a big spike in Other-Than-Mexicans, OTMs as we call them, it includes a spike in people from countries where terrorism abounds. We have people coming in from countries where Ebola is located,” Gohmert said.

“And, gee, since they’re coming across our border, and you know, they don’t get checked, and most of them don’t get really thoroughly checked, they could be coming in with disease that we simply do not need,” the congressman added.

US President Barack Obama announced changes to Department of Homeland Security policy allowing undocumented immigrants who arrive in the United States as children the opportunity to apply for a two-year permit to stay, avoiding deportation.

According to US Customs and Border Control, the number of children fleeing Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador rose to over 62,000 this year. US Congress was unable to pass immigration reform for what many call a “broken” immigration system, while Barack Obama came under attack for statements he made saying he would handle the crisis through executive powers. National Immigration Law Center (NILC) members noted that while the president cannot constitutionally grant immunity to the millions of youth immigrants, he does have the power to class a group of people as refugees.
