MOSCOW, August 4 (RIA Novosti) - One person died and thousands more remain trapped in a campground following raging thunderstorms in Southern California, Reuters reported on Monday.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department told Reuters that one person was discovered dead inside a vehicle which had been washed off a road during the heavy rains.

The Department also said the storms have covered the roads with mud rocks, trees and other debris, blocking off thousands of people, including 500 children, who currently remain on Forest Falls campground.

“It would take up to three days for workers using bulldozers and other heavy equipment to clear roads around” – Reuters quoted a representative of the Department.

Country emergency workers have rescued one woman just before a mudslide destroyed her home and damaged four others.

No further injuries have been reported.
