MOSCOW, August 4 (RIA Novosti)-A ferry boat carrying over 200 passengers capsized on the river Padma in central Bangladesh, Reuters reported earlier on Monday.

Rescue teams have safely avacuated around 100 people from the collision site. No deaths have been reported yet.

"Most of the passengers were coming back to the city after celebrating Eid-al Fitr," Reuters quoted Mohammad Saiful Hasan Badal, Deputy Commissioner of Munshiganj district. Eid-al Fitr is a Muslim religious holiday which marks the end of the Ramadan fasting month.

Boat incidents are not rare in Bangladesh. Less than half a year ago a boat overturned on the same spot, killings 54 out of 200 people on board.

Such cases are often blamed on poor quality and overcrowding of the vessels, which are the main means of transportation in the country.
