MOSCOW, July 25 (RIA Novosti) – Over 28,000 Ukrainian refugees have applied job applications to the Russian Employment Office and more than 1.7 thousand have already been employed, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets told journalists on Friday.
“Presently over 28,000 people have applied for jobs at the local employment offices. Each person is choosing a job according to his profession and over 1.7 thousand people have already been employed,” Golodets said.
According to the Russian Ministry of Labour, among the refugees that have already received work permission, the largest number are blue-collar workers, sales people, construction workers, drivers, healthcare and education specialists.
“We understand that thesr people are in a very complex situation and we are doing our best to make the employment process as comfortable for them as possible,” Golodets added.
Deputy Prime Minister noted that Russian schools and kindergartens are also preparing for enrollment of the children of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homeland.
Golodets also said that more than 26,000 refugees from Ukraine applied for Russian citizenship.
“Part of these people applied for Russian citizenship. There are over 26,000 of those who came from southeastern Ukraine and expressed their desire to become citizens of the Russian Federation,” the official said.
She stressed that the legal procedures for Ukrainian refugees, applying to receive Russian citizenship, were speeded up.
The number of people fleeing from Ukraine to Russia dramatically increased since spring amid the ongoing military actions between the Kiev government troops and self-defense forces. Each day several thousand of Ukrainians cross the Russian-Ukrainian border in Russia's Rostov region. According to the latest reports of the Federal Migration Service, around 517,000 refugees came to Russia from the southeast of Ukraine since the start of Kiev-led military operation.
