Have you noticed that lately – well, for quite some time – instead of news and programming that makes you think you see and hear purely entertainment content? Seemingly informative programs are wrapped in a pretty and easy-to-swallow coating. Perhaps you have, and perhaps there's a reason for it.

Have you noticed that lately – well, for quite some time – instead of news and programming that makes you think you see and hear purely entertainment content? Seemingly informative programs are wrapped in a pretty and easy-to-swallow coating. Perhaps you have, and perhaps there's a reason for it. Let's kick off with an exclusive interview. Italian journalist Giullietto Chiesa believes that fact-based information has been replaced with infotainment. "in general, this is... information plus entertainment. This is a new wave… or not so new, for 20-30 years I hear this kind of infotainment. You cannot speak about serious things, because it is out of the agenda. We should try to avoid the serious problems for the intellectuals. Every one of us believes that we are intellectuals, we know something and we project on all the other people the same knowledge we have. This is a huge mistake, because the majority of the people have no knowledge or ours."

American news is more insidious, then lack of information

So, what do you think? Some of our listeners and readers have already shared their thoughts.

Joe Dogo wrote:

"Well, I don't know... Many Americans cannot resist a 2nd opinion on the news. Perhaps it is more insidious. It is not lack of information, but deliberate deception on the part of the State Dept."

Michael Walsh added:

"I commented on civilian casualties of the Ukrainian Army on The Daily Mail, the world's most widely read online newspaper:. A commentator replies, to which he received many votes of approval; 'show us the proof.' I think that says it all. They are kept in complete ignorance by the controlled media". He added a quote from American political analyst Mark Mason: “America does not have a diverse independent media: "90 percent of all TV, newspapers, radio, magazines in the US are owned and controlled by six mega corporations and you can’t get a word in there that connects to the real world."

One reader going by the name Richard believes that:

"we should not be pessimistic because we know that there is an economic power behind this ideological control through the media/images. And no system, or empire, has lasted forever, while, historically, only technological development that meets real human needs has survived. TV and Internet are primitive technologies in the hands of the elites, a minority of less than 0.01% of humanity. They will certainly advance to meet real human needs, one day."
