Indian police confirmed Tuesday that two Russians were killed and another missing after a road accident in the country’s north, a spokesperson for the Russian embassy’s consular department in India told RIA Novosti.

MOSCOW, June 10 (RIA Novosti) – Indian police confirmed Tuesday that two Russians were killed and another missing after a road accident in the country’s north, a spokesperson for the Russian embassy’s consular department in India told RIA Novosti.

“Police have not confirmed the death of 13 people, only two have been confirmed dead, and another person is missing,” the spokesperson said, adding the Russian victims were likely part of an organized tour.

“We can say, with a great deal of probability, that all those inside the bus were Russians,” the spokesperson added.

The Russian embassy in India said 13 or 14 people were believed to have been killed in the accident, which occurred in the Indian state of Uttarakhand earlier Tuesday.

“We are now verifying the death toll, it was said there were 13-14 killed,” Russian embassy Spokeswoman Tatiana Kopilova disclosed earlier.

Indian media reports said Russian tourists were killed Tuesday as a bus heading to Gangotri fell off the road and plunged into the Bhagirathi river, a tributary of the Ganges.
