MOSCOW, June 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's United Rocket and Space Corporation (URSC) cannot carry out a complete audit of all the agencies within the space industry as part of the reform, main works will be conducted in those enterprises, which require financial rehabilitation, the company's head Igor Komarov said Monday.
“An audit of the enterprises, as such, was not conducted. We gathered some information related to their state through research institutes. Moreover, here in the URSC we have neither force no opportunities to create a complete audit of the entire space industry,” Komarov said as reported by Russian newspaper Kommersant.
According to the URSC head the information obtained so far proves that the majority of the enterprises are stable, however, not all of them can afford deep modernization of the productions and the profitability remains low.
Russia launched a sweeping reform of the space industry in 2013 amid a deep crisis in the sphere. As part of the reform the United Rocket and Space Corporation was set up, which is expected to consolidate all the enterprises of the industry, thus leaving Russia’s space agency Roscosmos in charge of research institutes and ground infrastructure organizations.
