MOSCOW, May 26 (RIA Novosti) – The Russian Defense Ministry plans to award around 95 million rubles ($2.9 million) in state contracts to create a system to protect information against unauthorized access, according to an announcement posted on the website for public procurement.

According to the statement by the Federal Agency for Weaponry, Military and Special Equipment and Material facilities Procurement (Rosoboronpostavka), the system will prevent unauthorized access to equipment before and after the operating system launch, to monitor the integrity of programs, to log events and access to machinery, as well as to control built-in protection tools from the security administrator's workstation.

The project lifespan will be at least seven years. The work is to be completed before May 31, 2016, with the competition to be finalized on June 25.

Previously, the problem of protecting against information leaks was the responsibility of the Russian Interior Ministry, which is ordering special equipment to prevent data leaks under a government contract starting at 272million rubles ($7.8 million). That electronic auction is scheduled for June 9.
